SugarReset Ingredients: Chromium, a 22-Name Blend and Nine Other Ingredients

Quick answer

The back label prints one nutrient with an amount, chromium at 0.7 mcg per 1 ml, and a proprietary blend of 22 names sharing 200 mg. The sales page features six names: chromium and five of the 22. No amount is printed for any name in the blend. Nine other ingredients make up the liquid base.

The full list01

What are the ingredients in SugarReset?

The label lists chromium, 22 blend names and nine other ingredients. The whole list follows in label order, with the six sales-page names marked.

The 22 names under "Proprietary Blend 200 mg" on the SugarReset back label, in label order. The bounds assume the names are listed from heaviest to lightest, which is how FDA's labeling rule for blends asks them to be listed; they are limits, not amounts.

The order matters. On a proprietary blend the names are listed from most to least by weight, so maca is the largest part and L-carnitine the smallest. The label does not print the weights, so the ring on the home page shows only each name's place in the list and the most it could weigh if the list is in true order.

The six featured names02

Which six does the sales page feature, and what do we know about each?

The sales page names chromium, gymnema, African mango, green tea, maca and Panax ginseng. Each has its own page here.

The six sales-page names against the label
IngredientPlace in blendAmount printedWhat studies used
Chromium picolinateListed on its own0.7 mcg per 1 ml (2% DV)Weight trials 200 to 1,000 mcg a day (NIH ODS, Chromium)
Gymnema8 of 22Not printedDifferent leaf extracts and doses
African mango4 of 22Not printed300 mg a day of one branded extract
Green tea7 of 22Not printed141 to 1,207 mg a day of catechins
Maca1 of 22Not printedStudied for desire and fertility
Panax ginseng (aerial)12 of 22Not printedMostly root products for 30 days or more

Two points stand out. First, chromium is the only name with a printed amount, and 0.7 mcg is tiny next to the 20 to 35 mcg a day that the NIH lists as an adequate intake for adults (NIH ODS, Chromium). Second, ginseng is the aerial part, while the human trials mostly used root.

The other 1703

What are the other 17 names in the blend?

The label also names grape seed, guarana, eleuthero, astragalus, coleus forskohlii, capsicum, grapefruit and nine more, none of which the sales page features.

Several of these are active in their own right. Guarana seeds contain caffeine, and green tea does too (MSK, Guarana). Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate is a licorice-derived salt, and licorice can raise blood pressure and lower potassium in large amounts (NCCIH, Licorice Root). Grapefruit can change how some medicines are processed (FDA, Grapefruit Juice and Some Drugs), and coleus forskohlii has been linked to low blood pressure (MSK, Forskolin). Amino acids such as L-arginine, L-ornithine, L-glutamine, L-tyrosine, L-tryptophan, L-carnitine and beta-alanine fill most of the end of the list.

All 17 are covered on one page: the other 17 names.

Other ingredients04

What are the other ingredients in the liquid?

Nine other ingredients carry the blend: glycerin, water, organic lemon extract, stevia extract 97% (Reb A), xylitol, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, citric acid and natural flavors.

Glycerin and water are the base. Stevia and xylitol sweeten, and xylitol is a sugar alcohol that can upset the stomach in large amounts and is dangerous to dogs, so keep the bottle away from pets. Sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate are preservatives, and citric acid adjusts taste and stability. The label shows no allergen statement we could read. See other ingredients for more.

If you have an allergy

The panel does not list a major allergen, but natural flavors are not broken down. Ask the order desk, or a pharmacist, before using it if you have a serious allergy.

Amounts05

Why do the amounts matter so much?

A supplement only does what a study of its dose can support, and for SugarReset nobody can compare the dose with a study.

A study of an ingredient gives a form, an amount and a length of time. A label that prints only a blend total hides all three for 22 names. Take gymnema: it sits eighth in a 22-name list, so it can weigh at most 25 mg of the 200 mg. The trials in the reviews gave much more than that in a day, in the form of different leaf extracts (Devangan et al. 2021). Ginseng sits twelfth, so at most about 16.7 mg, against trial doses that were far larger (Shishtar et al. 2014).

Those ceilings are arithmetic, not facts about your bottle. They assume the list runs from heaviest to lightest, which is the usual rule. If you want to know the real amounts, ask the seller for a certificate of analysis that lists each name.

Safety06

Who should ask a clinician about the ingredients first?

Anyone who takes a diabetes medicine, a blood thinner or a heart or blood pressure medicine, and anyone who is pregnant, nursing, under 18 or facing surgery.

  • Insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas or any other diabetes medicine: chromium and gymnema have been studied for glucose effects.
  • Warfarin or another blood thinner: ginseng may affect clotting.
  • Liver disease or a history of liver trouble: green tea extracts have been linked to liver injury (NIH LiverTox, Green Tea).
  • Caffeine sensitivity, a heart rhythm problem or high blood pressure: guarana, green tea and licorice each matter.
  • Pregnancy or nursing: the label says to consult a physician.

FAQ07

SugarReset questions people ask

How many ingredients are in SugarReset?

The label lists chromium, 22 blend names and nine other ingredients. The sales page features chromium plus only five of the 22 names.

Why does the sales page list six when the label lists 22?

We do not know. The label is the document printed on the bottle, so this site follows the label and flags the difference for the seller.

Does SugarReset contain caffeine?

The blend names guarana and green tea, which both contain caffeine. The label prints no caffeine amount.

Is there sugar in SugarReset?

The label lists stevia extract and xylitol as sweeteners. The panel we have does not print a sugar amount.
