Quick answer

We found no safety study of SugarReset, so no side effect list exists for the product. The plain answer01

What are the side effects of SugarReset?

No one knows for the product as a whole. What follows are the effects reported for single ingredients.

FDA does not review supplements for safety before they are sold, and supplement makers are responsible for making sure their products are safe (FDA, FDA 101: Dietary Supplements). A label caution tells you the maker wants certain groups to ask a physician; it is not a safety study. The SugarReset label says do not exceed the dose, and that pregnant or nursing mothers, children under 18 and people with a known medical condition should consult a physician.

We therefore built the table from the sources we read for each name, and we say plainly when a caution is a possibility and not a finding about this product.

By ingredient02

What cautions come with each featured ingredient?

The table lists reported cautions for the six sales-page names, with sources.

Cautions reported for the featured ingredients
IngredientReported cautionWho should ask first
Chromium picolinateMay add to the effect of diabetes medicines; isolated kidney and liver reports at high doses (NIH ODS, Chromium)Medicine users, kidney or liver disease
GymnemaMay add to glucose-lowering medicines; stomach upset (Devangan et al. 2021)Insulin or sulfonylurea users
African mangoGas, headache, sleep trouble; a case of kidney failure (MSK, Irvingia gabonensis)Kidney disease
Green tea extractLiver injury, caffeine effects (NIH LiverTox, Green Tea)Liver disease, caffeine sensitivity
MacaAltered cycles, mood change, sleep trouble (MSK, Maca)Pregnancy, hormone-sensitive conditions
Panax ginsengInsomnia; may affect clotting and glucose (NCCIH, Asian Ginseng)Warfarin, diabetes medicine

Others in the 22-name blend carry cautions of their own: guarana (caffeine), licorice salt (blood pressure and potassium), grapefruit (medicine interactions) and astragalus (autoimmune disease). See the other 17 names.

Low glucose03

What is the biggest risk for people on diabetes medicine?

Low glucose, if a supplement adds to the effect of a medicine that already lowers it.

Low glucose means a level below what is healthy for you, often under 70 mg/dL for people with diabetes, though your own number may differ. Signs include shakiness, sweating, hunger, a fast heartbeat, headache and confusion, and severe cases cause fainting or seizures (NIDDK, Low Blood Glucose). The NIDDK says to follow the plan from your care team (MedlinePlus, Hypoglycemia).

If you take diabetes medicine

Ask a prescriber or pharmacist before using SugarReset. Keep checking your glucose as told, never stop or change a medicine because of a supplement, and carry what your care team told you to carry for a low.

See low blood sugar warning signs and diabetes medicine safety.

Caffeine and heart04

What about caffeine and the heart?

Guarana and green tea carry caffeine, and the label prints no total.

Signs of too much caffeine include a racing heart, high blood pressure, trouble sleeping, nervousness and shakiness. FDA cites 400 mg a day as an amount not generally linked to negative effects for most healthy adults, and sensitivity varies (FDA, Spilling the Beans). If a serving adds caffeine on top of coffee, tea and energy drinks, the total can climb without notice.

People with a heart rhythm problem, high blood pressure, anxiety or a sleep disorder should ask first. Licorice salt and coleus may also affect blood pressure (NCCIH, Licorice Root).

Liver and kidney05

Which signs point to liver or kidney trouble?

Dark urine, yellow skin or eyes, pale stools, belly pain and unusual tiredness all call for a stop and a clinician.

Green tea extract is a well-established cause of liver injury in rare cases, usually in the first one to six months (NIH LiverTox, Green Tea). African mango has a case report of kidney failure (MSK, Irvingia gabonensis). Neither is common, and neither can be predicted from the label. The practical rule is to know the signs, stop if they appear and say what you took.

You can report a problem with a supplement to FDA through MedWatch (FDA, MedWatch). Keep the bottle and the lot code, which you can compare with the seller's reference on batch verify.

By group06

Which groups are asked to be most careful?

The label names three groups, and the sources add a few more.

Pregnant and nursing mothers are asked to consult a physician, partly because caffeine intake is limited in pregnancy and partly because many herbs have no safety data for it (MedlinePlus, Caffeine). Children under 18 are asked to consult a physician, and the dose on the label is meant for adults. People with a known medical condition are asked to consult a physician, which covers diabetes, heart, liver, kidney, thyroid and autoimmune conditions.

Older adults often take several medicines, which raises the chance of an interaction, and are more sensitive to caffeine and to low glucose. If you care for an older relative, a pharmacist review of the full list is the best single step. Many pharmacies offer a free medicine review, and some health plans pay for a yearly one, so ask when you collect a prescription. Bring every bottle, including vitamins and herbal products, because people often forget to mention them.

Prepare07

What should you bring to a pharmacist or doctor?

Four items turn a ten-minute chat into a useful one.

  1. The bottle or a photo of the label

Show the Supplement Facts panel and the list of 22 names.

  2. Your medicine list

Include doses, over-the-counter products and other supplements.

  3. Your recent readings

Bring glucose, A1C and blood pressure numbers if you have them.

  4. Your questions

Ask about low glucose, clotting, liver and caffeine, and about stopping rules.

If the answer is that nothing on the label is a problem for you, write that down with the date. If the answer is to wait, wait. A bottle on a shelf costs nothing, and a bad reaction can cost a lot.

Allergy08

What if you react?

Hives, a swollen face or trouble breathing is an emergency. Call 911.

  • Call 911: trouble breathing, a swollen face or lips, fainting, chest pain, a seizure.
  • Stop and call a clinician the same day: a rash, stomach pain, a pounding heart, dark urine, yellow eyes.
  • Tell the order desk if the bottle seems wrong, with the lot code and your order ID.

Bring the bottle to any visit. A clinician can look up each name on the label.
