SugarReset Before and After: Why Photos and Stories Prove So Little

Quick answer

A before and after photo or story shows one person at two moments, with no control and no measurement of what else changed. It cannot show that a product caused the difference, and the FTC treats such claims as needing real proof. This site shows none. If you try the drops, measure instead.

Why are before and after stories weak?

They have no comparison and many causes.

A person may change food, sleep, exercise or medicine at the same time. Lighting, pose and timing alter a photo. Stories are chosen, not sampled: the ones shown are the ones that look best. The FTC says that testimonials do not replace evidence for a health claim (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance).

A claim that rests only on stories has no proof behind it.

What does the law say about them?

Reviews and testimonials must be real, and typical results must be disclosed.

Testimonial rules in plain words
RuleMeaning
Fake reviews are bannedA seller cannot publish or buy fake reviews (FTC, Final Rule Banning Fake Reviews)
Endorsers must be honestThey must reflect real experience
Connections must be disclosedPayment or free product must be stated (FTC, How To Evaluate Online Reviews)
Claims need proofA story does not prove a health claim (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance)

That is why we show no sample reviews, and why review slots on this site stay empty until real, verified ones exist.

What should you look at instead?

Measured numbers over time.

Ask whether the before and after used the same method, the same time of day and the same scale. A meter reading, an A1C or a waist measurement can be compared. A look cannot. Ask who took the measure and whether anyone else checked it.

Photos are not evidence

If an ad rests on photos, ask for a study.

What if you want to document your own?

Do it for yourself and your clinician, not for the internet.

Keep dated notes and the same measurement method. Do not post health data you would not want kept, and do not take a photo as proof of anything.

How can you spot an edited image?

Look at the details.

Check for different lighting, clothing, posture and background in the two shots, and for sharpness that differs. Reverse image search can show whether a photo appears on other pages with other names. If it does, it is not a customer of this product. Report a fake testimonial to the FTC, and never rely on one in a decision.

What does the SugarReset label say?
